Chechu Viella
Chechu Viella is a passionate hunter and one of the most respected names in Spain in the world of pointing dogs and small-game hunting, especially in the demanding woodcock modality.
His life combines his profession as a firefighter with an absolute dedication to cynology, where he stands out as a titled handler and trainer of pointing dogs. His deep understanding of the countryside and of canine psychology have made him a benchmark for both traditional hunters and high-level competitors.
As a hunter, woodcock (or arcea) hunting in dense forests and rugged terrain is his true hallmark. Viella conceives hunting not as a mere activity of capture, but as the art of being fully in tune with the dog. He is a firm defender of the idea that success in the field depends on genetic selection, the animal’s innate passion and impeccable physical and technical preparation, qualities that he himself polishes meticulously in every dog that passes through his hands.
His prestige in the sector has led him to transcend national borders, standing out for the organisation of hunting trips to Lithuania and the Baltic region. On these woodcock-oriented expeditions, he guides other hunters in areas with high game densities, using these privileged settings to test and enhance the skills of young dogs in real conditions.
In addition, his technical mastery extends from hunting days to top-level pointing dog competition, where he takes an active part in trials organised by bodies such as the Pointer Club de España and the Euskal Liga, achieving important triumphs as a handler of great pointing dogs.
