Unai Axpe

Unai Axpe Etxabe is a prominent Spanish sport shooter, born in the Bedoña district of Arrasate (Gipuzkoa). An active member of the Kurtzeta Gain clay shooting club in Aramaio, his sporting career is deeply tied to his family heritage: he is the son of the historic shooter Rafa Axpe, who represented Spain at the Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.

Under his father’s influence, Unai began competing at a young age, quickly standing out for his precision and composure on the shooting ranges. After several years establishing himself on the regional and national scene — where he achieved successes such as runner-up in the Spanish Olympic Trap Championship in 2022 and runner-up in Mini Trap in 2025 — his definitive international breakthrough came in August 2024.

In Valladolid, Axpe was crowned World Champion in Trap 5 after posting an almost perfect card (124/125 in qualifying and 24/25 in the final), completing his golden year shortly afterwards by winning the European Championship in Zaragoza.

Established at the forefront of Spanish shooting sports, in 2026 he has reaffirmed his competitive maturity by winning the Spanish Universal Trap Cup and taking the runner-up spot at the Trap 5 World Championship after a tight final decided in sudden death.

His career and his constant international and local successes led him to be nominated for the prestigious Gipuzkoa Kirolak Sariak awards, a prize that recognises the efforts of the most exemplary athletes in the province.
